Simran Vasant

When I do conduct a phone call, I always formally introduce myself and ask them how their day is going.

6.00 AM

Time to wake up! I will do my morning routine and put on the outfit I had planned the night before as soon as I wake up. Then, I pack my lunch and prepare everything else that needs to go into my work bag.

7.00 AM

I will leave the house and go to catch the train which is usually an hour and 15 minutes commute. I get off at Glenferrie Station and take a short walk to the Hawthorn office.

8.30 AM

Arrived at work! As soon as I enter, I like to say hello to everyone and head to my desk to settle in. I will set up my laptop, log in, and check my email and Microsoft Teams for any new information, updates, or tasks that I need to do before the end of the day. Before working on the tasks I need to do, I confirm with Sebastian so we are on the same wavelength.

9.00 AM

My morning usually begins with reference-checking candidates, and previewing candidates for potential job opportunities in Bullhorn. Sometimes, there will be tasks to do on Bullhorn, so I’ll do that!

11.00 AM

If the candidates on Bullhorn do not meet the requirements for the job opportunities I have been assigned, I turn to Seek Talent/Zoom Info to search for more candidates that are suitable for the role needed to be filled.

12.00 PM

Time flies—it’s lunchtime! I usually bring lunch in from home. Sometimes I like to go for a walk to get some fresh air, join my fellow colleagues on a walk, or get lunch outside.

1.00 PM

Gotta get back to work! with the candidates I found on Seek Talent/Zoom Info and contact them via phone call. When I do conduct a phone call, I always formally introduce myself and ask them how their day is going. I give them time to respond before going into the details about the role and see if they’re interested in proceeding to book them in for a pre-screening. If they’re interested, I like to pass on the message to Sebastian and let him know how the phone call went. Every call is different, so sometimes I like to ask Sebastian on advice on how I should respond to candidates and prepare myself for those types of scenarios.

3.00 PM

With a couple more tasks left to do, I add these suitable candidates into the Bullhorn tearsheets and complete their profiles. With these tasks done, I usually send them through to Sebastian and Andrew to review and keep them informed. If they have feedback, I will listen carefully and take note of it in my notebook for reference next time I am in work.

5.00 PM

Finally, it’s home time! I say goodbye to Sebastian, Andrew, and the rest of the team before exiting the office. I will walk to Glenferrie station, and sometimes will have another colleague join me and we chat on the way. We say our farewells and part ways, then I will go to the platform I need to be on to commute back home.

6.30 PM

Home at last! I will have dinner and wind down by going on my phone, scrolling through my socials, and watching a TV show. Since I am still in university, I catch up on my readings and lectures, get started, or finish up assignments before getting ready for bed.

10.30 PM

Starting to get tired so off to bed!
