Our Summer Vacation Student Program gives practical hands-on experience in your chosen discipline.

Our paid summer program is flexible to meet your exam and university dates and provides you with the opportunity to work with experienced professionals at our mine sites.

Our Vacation Students form the future talent pool for our Graduate Program with opportunities available to fast-track from one program to the next.

We have roles available at both our Boddington and Tanami Mine Sites. Our Boddington vacation students have the option of living locally in Boddington or staying in our Accommodation Village on a Drive-In/Out roster. Tanami vacation students have the option of Fly In/Out from Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs or Brisbane. 

The Newmont Vacation Employment Program yields many riches. That’s why many of our vacation students return for a second year. Do well in the summer and you could be fast-tracked into a full-time Graduate position in our structured 2-year Graduate Development Program. 

Key features of the Vacation Employment Program: 

• Maximum 12 weeks’ work experience at our Australian Operations; 
• Hands-on responsibilities with the possibility of project work; 
• Opportunity to fast track into Newmont Australia’s Graduate Development Program. 

What We Look For 

• Tertiary level qualifications (Bachelor Degree or higher) in Mining Engineering
• Strong academic record 
• A record of personal achievements  
• A genuine interest in working in the mining sector 
• An interest to work in remote locations 
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency status 
• Penultimate year (a small number of roles are open for students not in their penultimate year)
