Please describe the interview process and assessments.
Pretty intensive - psychometric testing, online interview, in-person interview.
Graduate, Auckland - 11 Aug 2023
Interview process and assessments easy to follow. Not an overkill of stages which I have heard other companies do.

I made an application, and this was followed up with psychometric testing and a one-way video interview and then an in-person interview. There were some social events as well before I started.
Graduate, Auckland - 02 Aug 2023
I believe it was a one-way video interview, followed by a psychometric test, followed by an in-person interview.

Genuinely enjoyable and fun. I felt so welcome in my interview, it was very relaxed which allowed me to be myself. I viewed the assessments as games, so I didn't overthink them, and that was the best approach in my opinion!

I applied for the summer clerkship online, made it to the next round and had to complete a psychometric test and video interview, then was flown to Auckland for an in-person interview with a partner and HR representative.

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
What my preconceptions were for the job, my legal interests, what I learnt at uni, etc.
Graduate, Auckland - 11 Aug 2023
I was asked about my interests, previous experience, why I would like to work there, how I would cope in different situations.
Graduate, Auckland - 11 Aug 2023
In the interview I was asked what one of the company's values meant to me, and why I wanted to work at a commercial firm. In the second in-person interview I was asked about my CV and work experience, about my interests and background, and how I would deal with certain scenarios at work (such as receiving feedback).
Graduate, Auckland - 02 Aug 2023
Mainly behavioural questions and questions surrounding my internship
Graduate, Auckland - 28 Jul 2023
Just about my life and what I have achieved! They more so wanted to know if I had any questions for them, it was as though they were trying to sell the firm to me which made me more comfortable too.

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
Come in with genuine responses, not answers based on what you think the interviewer wants to hear. There's a lot more focus on personality than I thought there would be.
Graduate, Auckland - 11 Aug 2023
I think be yourself and be able to show what you can bring to the team. It is hard to talk about ourselves, but this is the one time you are allowed to do it.
Graduate, Auckland - 11 Aug 2023
Show up as your genuine self. I felt that the interviewers were mostly interested who I was as a person and how I engaged with them during the interview. Think about how your life experiences so far have shaped you as a person and how you will bring those to this job.

Apply early and speak to Grace if you have any questions or concerns during the process because she is super lovely.

Read up on the history and the partners - be confident in what area of law you want to work in and be able to explain why.
Graduate, Auckland - 28 Jul 2023
Think about why you have chosen to study law, why you want a career in law, what you enjoy doing outside of university, what kind of person you are.
