It could have been challenging to juggle my family and work life if Hydro Tasmania didn’t value diversity and flexibility.

Set yourself up as early as possible for your future. Take opportunities as they present themselves, make connections with people in your field, apply early and often for career starting positions.

There are definitely a lot of ways you could contribute to the ABS, so don’t let a narrow view of what we do hold you back.

The best part about being a grad at Hydro Tas is the emphasis they place on welcoming and guiding all of their grads. Most of the leaders I know who have been in the business for over 30 years began as a graduate engineer or BA.

I didn’t really consider the power system much until I became an engineer, but now I struggle to walk down the street without stopping to look at poles and wires, etc.

As a graduate, I have been given exposure to and have some level of input/development/ review with different engineering activities each team were responsible for.

The connections you make, structured learning and on the job development make for a thoughtful and rewarding graduate program.
