SOTI was founded in 1995 by Carl Rodrigues and is headquartered in Mississauga, Canada. SOTI’s first product was a software that allowed users to control phones remotely from laptops or desktop computers, which was eventually named Pocket Controller. Carl Rodrigues continued to build out Pocket Controller while simultaneously working as an IT consultant. In 2001, SOTI officially launched its expanded product, Pocket Controller Professional. Pocket Controller Professional enabled businesses to remote desktop software and provide real-time support to mobile devices in the field. As more companies used Pocket Controller Professional to monitor mobile devices, SOTI unveiled Pocket Controller Enterprise in 2004 which targeted enterprise businesses. Pocket Controller Professional and Pocket Controller Enterprise were the predecessors of SOTI MobiControl, which was launched on November 1, 2004. In 2018, SOTI announced the commercial launch of the SOTI ONE Platform, which included SOTI MobiControl, SOTI Assist, and SOTI Snap after a year-long beta program in which SOTI users tested the elements of the SOTI ONE Platform.

When surveyed, SOTI employees had a hard time choosing between SOTI Day and the annual holiday party as their favorite events. Many mentioned that SOTI is the most social place they have ever worked. SOTI Clubs offer organized ways of participating in soccer, ball hockey, jam music sessions, yoga, badminton, and basketball. SOTI also organizes additional events such as ski days, laser tag sessions, table tennis tournaments, family skates, etc.
