Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders at nbn
At nbn we are proud to have created our fourth Reconciliation Action Plan (2020 – 2022) with Reconciliation Australia. This is a key element in our continued desire to incorporate the appropriate recognition and respect of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and their cultures into the way we operate each day.
At nbn, we understand the important role the company plays in driving digital capability in partnership with First Peoples and in exploring how this can help enable social and economic benefits that access to fast broadband can provide. nbn’s vision for reconciliation is to be deeply engaged and connected with First Peoples’ cultures and aspirations for digital inclusion.
We have launched our Liakukana (“lee-ah-kooh-kâh-nah”) community to bring together our First Peoples representatives and our diverse members who are helping deliver our Reconciliation Action Plan for 2020-2022 (focused on improving our community engagement and innovative solutions to deliver the nbn™ access network to First Peoples communities).
We are creating a culturally inclusive workplace through Reconciliation Awareness eLearning modules, and supporting our First Peoples staff by providing opportunities for mentoring and a dedicated employee assist line. We are connecting First Peoples' communities safely and increasing digital ability through culturally led cyber safety awareness and education.
