Guaranteed position at the completion of the Graduate Program

nbn dedicates the connection and improvement of internet services to disadvantaged communities, and uplifting the capability of our nation's connectedness. I was also privileged to work on a project that supplied clean drinking water to villages in Africa.

Accepting, supportive, friendly teams who are willing to help and are supportive of graduates. My team is more outcomes-focused so there is no micro-managing of employees and flexible working is supported. The grad managers are super friendly, supportive of career paths and self-development. It is a fun environment to work in.

Our organisation has multiple diversity days throughout the year where we celebrate International Women's Day, Pride Month and Diversity Day (where we celebrate each other’s cultures) to name a few. There are also nbn™ pride lanyards available to showcase support to the LGBTIQ community.

Role as a graduate is to learn and contribute to the continual growth of the organisation. Day-to-day responsibilities would be to work on valuable projects and provide updates on these projects when required, whether this be during meetings or via email/ phone conversations. As part of the learning and development of grads, part of our role includes participating in team meetings.

Strong communication across the management team, which makes them amazing mentors. They genuinely want to see us grads succeed and will help guide us in the best direction and present us with great opportunities. Managers are regularly checking in on you individually and have frequent team meetings where everyone can get together.

Office space is still fairly new considering the organisation moved into the building towards the end of 2019. The office landscape is spacious. We hot desk and have lockers available to store our belongings. Prime location - 5 minute walk to North Sydney station and a nice walk to Luna Park, Kirribilli House, Anderson Park. Dress code is smart casual. As long as you dress respectfully, there is no strict dress code.

Basic problem solving within a team, and awareness of collaboration. Basic presentation skills were expected, and the individual interview was relatively informal in comparison (but still very important). Honesty is highly valued, so don't give answers you think are right, rather provide the answers that you actually believe in.

The pay is very decent for a graduate salary. There are bonuses but I think this is catered once we are off our graduate salary.

Access to relevant training to your area of work is provided, these include certificates and workshops to help personal development.

nbn is quite flexible and encouraging of a healthy work and life balance, this is something that I think allows them to stand out from other organisations.

We focus always on recycling and keeping the offices clean.
